IT

Lesley’s IT department website had been neglected for a long time and was in desperate need of a re-structuring and an update of the out of date content. I was brought on as the design lead on this re-design to create a new structure that would be easy for university patrons to find much needed information about the IT department. I was partnered with the Help Desk Assistant Manager to serve as a content and department expert.

Using the established content management system and working closely with the web department we were able to implement a new structure that was divided by user type. Each user could self identify and be directed to the content most relevant to them. We streamlined the site by eliminating extra steps to get to desired content.

As part of the re-design we also created a system for the IT department to manage the site and to keep it current. For the back-end management process we designated individuals from each sub-department within IT to be the content experts and gave them direct access to update that content. For the initial launch we were able to update all outstanding content in less than a month.
